white nylon Chinese style lanterns |
We had a little party for my little girl last weekend to celebrate her baptism and we invited everyone who attended back over to our house afterwards for a late lunch.
It's super wet and rainy here in New England this time of year, so I knew if I wanted to set up ahead of time, I needed something more durable than your average paper lantern. In fact, it rained the first half of the week before the party, making all the outdoor party preparations a pain in the tushie. And it's rained, drizzled, or poured since the party, and these little guys look as good as ever. (Not to much the 150% humidity that is our lot of life in these parts!)
Anyway, I just love 'em and I knew I had to share.
Hanging them was super easy. I used fishing line, which allows them to sway in the breeze. You could use heavy duty wire if you want something more durable. And I didn't purchase them this time around (since our party had little kids and we knew it would wrap up around dusk) but you can outfit them with outdoor power cords for a whimsical illuminated effect. So pretty!
I'm a huge of fan of online shopping (who wants to drag kids on errands when you don't have to?) and I bought mine online. The best part is that they do come in different sizes, shapes, styles, and colors.
What's your favorite?
Pretty! It has been raining here too.
