beautiful daughter {printable}

I'm excited to share this today -a free printable! It's a first here. My daughter has this quote on a small tattered piece of brown cardstock on her bulletin board. She got it awhile ago and I thought it deserved a fresh makeover and a little bit more attention than it was getting, so I created this printable for her. It prints as on 8.5 x 11, sheet and measures approximately 7.5 x 6 inches.

There's five colors to choose from -just click on hue you like best.

Easy 3D Star of the Week Poster

It seems like at some point either in kindergarten or preschool my kids are featured as star of the week. This usually requires creating a huge poster all about them to share with the rest of the class.

Well, sometimes we just get short on time and end up hastily throwing something together the night before.

Well, no one needs to know you throw this one together in a flash. Its super easy and looks great.

It's time to start thinking about your favorite father, if you haven't already.

Handyman is pretty boring predictable with his father's day gift requests. He's perfectly happy with a new button down shirt and a new tie.

He started wearing these Smartcare shirts from Nordstrom years ago, and has never bought another brand since. He just loves them! The Smartcare make them virtually wrinkle resistant, and I love that I can easily pick them at the store or purchase them online.

Considering he wears one 6 days a week, I think that's a pretty good track record.

birthday favor

If your children's school have the same non-food-birthday-treat-policy that mine do, it can sometimes be difficult coming up with favors for the little ones' celebrations. I found these little cute jets at a discount store, perfect for a five year boy!

My little guy and I took turns stamping a piece of plain brown cardstock and punching out the gift tags. Then I just tied it on with a bow, and had my little fella sign his name on the back, and we were in business. Plus, all that name signing is good practice!

He was pretty happy to pass them out to all his preschool friends the next day.

peek-a-boo flower favors

My little girl insisted she wanted to give out flower pens as her birthday favor. She picked out some silk flowers from the local craft store and we attached them to the pens using green floral tape. We put them inside these individually labeled bags. The pens easily slide inside and the bow keeps it in place. Great for transporting them to the birthday site. Simply,

1. fold the bag over to the desired height, crease.
2. unfold, and punch a small hole on the new crease. 
3. fold the bag closed again and punch two small holes to thread the ribbon through.
4. slide the pen inside the top hole, tie a piece of ribbon through the other two holes.

Customize it to your party or shower by using different color bags, ribbon or twine, and a peek-a-boo treat.

Looking for a way to give your favorite artist or writer a personalized journal? Try covering a plain composition notebook with their favorite scrapbook paper and adding some simple finishing touches, such as ribbon, flowers, buttons, or anything that would let the receiver know this was made for them.

I made this little journal for my own mom and asked her to fill it with her favorite childhood memories. It makes me happy everytime I'm there to see it sitting on her coffee table in her family room. She just jots down a few thoughts here and there as they come to her. Its a great way to preserve some of those precious family history moments.

Supplies:

• composition journal
• favorite scrapbook paper, cut to size
• embellishments
• mod podge glue
• foam brush
• hot glue gun

Directions:

1. Using the mod podge, glue your scrapbook paper to the outside of your notebook.*
2. Seal the outside with a layer of mod podge, making sure to re-enforce the edges.
3. Let dry completely.
4. Add any embellishments you like -interior ribbon place makers, personalization, etc.

*For an extra fancy finish, wrap the covers around the sides, and then cover with an additional piece of coordinating paper.
